Description
This semi-abstract landscape watercolor captures a seated couple as they look out from a ledge of rock at Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. It is high noon, but the breeze off the sea is cool and the spray from the churning surf below is delightful. Glare from the sun at its zenith brings an involuntary squint to the eye. A boat in the distance moves closer to the rocky shore. Waves roll in repeatedly, incessantly and crash against this popular rocky coastline. Huge slabs of weather- and salt-beaten rock, often stacked atop one another, extend 100 feet or more out from the Mount Desert Island pine forest. Distinctively different rock textures and colors characterize this section of the park. The rock formations appear to slide toward the ocean. It's a great location to gaze out at the sea and beyond... ideal for pensive, peaceful reflection.
