Dusk settles over the Chesapeake Bay as a sailboat drops anchor at a private dock on Kent Island, Maryland. Two occupants of the sailboat work expeditiously to pack and prepare the vessel for shut down. A vast and brilliant colorful sky oversees the exit of a fiery-orange setting sun. Wistful clouds exit whimsically to the north while others march in from the south like a occupying army. This abstract geometric watercolor of the Chesapeake Bay highlights the elements of weather, wind, and water flow and the interplay of color and light over this watery landscape.
About David Ralph
David Ralph is a contemporary artist and illustrator currently living in Maryland. David's style of painting and illustration can best be described as geometric abstraction with influences ranging from the cubist paintings of Pablo Picasso to the primitive, cutout shapes of Henri Matisse. Other notable influences for David were Paul Cezanne's fragmented landscapes and the geometrically-divided, flat-color canvases of Piet Mondrian.
